BY: VANESSA BUGTONG

CCTV footage from around 3:40 in the afternoon on January 14 shows a taxi going downhill along General Luna Street.

Instead of stopping for pedestrians at a crosswalk, the taxi continued and hit a group of students.

One male student managed to run, but others fell to the ground, with some immediately rushed to a hospital.

Ignacio Lavarias, Barangay Tanod, stated, “We signaled people to move aside, but the vehicle was moving fast. One of them hit their head and was bleeding.”

Initial investigations revealed the 66-year-old taxi driver lost control of the brakes.

According to PMAJ. Marcy Grace Marron, Public Information Officer, “Their companions are still in the hospital.”

Police did not immediately arrest the driver but confiscated his license.

The investigation continues as the victims and other affected parties consider filing reckless imprudence charges.
