Struggling to walk due to cramped toes, she now relies on a wheelchair.
This is the situation of Nanay Amparo from San Vicente, Urdaneta, Pangasinan.
She says her condition started only with an increase in her uric acid.
Nanay Lourdes hides her ongoing pain from a myoma surgery two years ago behind her smiles.
Both Nanay Amparo and Nanay Lourdes say they could have addressed their ailments early if they had regular check-ups.
The problem is that they have financial constraints, so visits to specialists have been rare.
This is what the Guiconsulta program, led by Pangasinan Governor Ramon “Monmon” V. Guico III, along with his wife, First Spouses League Chairperson Maan Tuazon-Guico, aims to address.
They personally provided free check-ups, laboratory tests, medicines, food, and even transportation.
This initiative is a big help for Nanay Amparo and Lourdes, as their barangay was chosen to launch the program.
To access Guiconsulta’s services, residents only need to be PhilHealth members.
Governor Guico III has pledged to travel across the province to bring these medical services to the Pangasinenses.
