More than 2,000 runners gathered in Baguio City to join a fun run organized by the Good Governance Alliance, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and advocacy against corruption.
Participants, both young and old, took part in 3km, 5km, and 10km categories. One of them was Mayer Castro, who finished the 3km run. “I’m doing this to get fit and support good governance. Corruption is the reason why many Filipinos don’t progress,” he said.
Another participant, Cesar Martinez, joined the 5km run. “This is for the youth and for those who love sports. We need good governance to move forward,” he said.
The runners were welcomed at the finish line by Baguio City official Engr. Isabelo “Poppo” Cosalan Jr. “We advocate for health, and that includes the whole family—mothers, fathers, and children,” he said.
After the run, participants signed a pledge supporting the promotion of good governance. Cosalan emphasized that good governance should be inclusive. “If we say we promote good health, we must come up with programs and activities that truly reflect this commitment,” he added.
The event wrapped up with a message of unity: embracing a fit lifestyle alongside a shared commitment to honest leadership can bring about a better life for all Filipinos.
