As the country celebrates Filipino Food Month this April, the government is highlighting local cuisine as a reflection of the nation’s rich culture and traditions.

For student Hannah, halo-halo remains a comforting and refreshing treat during stressful exam seasons and hot weather.

Known for its mix of colorful ingredients, halo-halo is one of the many distinctly Filipino snacks being celebrated this month.

During the national kickoff of Filipino Food Month in Lucena City, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emphasized the culinary creativity of Filipinos, saying that even the simplest ingredients can be transformed into extraordinary dishes that can compete globally.

“In celebrating Filipino Food Month, we honor our kitchens as sanctuaries of our history, culture, and identity,” Marcos said.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. echoed this sentiment, stating that the event is a tribute to those who uphold Filipino culinary traditions as part of the nation’s heritage.

With the theme “Sarap ng Pagkaing Pilipino: Yaman ng Ating Kasaysayan, Kultura, at Pagkatao,” Filipino Food Month is being celebrated nationwide in various locations to further promote and preserve Filipino cuisine for future generations.
