GROUP IN BAGUIO CITY, BROUGHT CHRISTMAS CHEER TO CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

BY: VANESSA BUGTONG

At just two years old, John, not his real name, was diagnosed with autism.

According to his mother Cathy, it was initially difficult for them to accept the situation.

“We just embraced the situation as it is,” she said.

As he grew older, John found it challenging to interact with other children.

At age seven, he still struggles to speak.

“Before therapy, he would easily get agitated,” she added.

This is why Cathy is deeply grateful for the Christmas gifts brought by a group advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs).

This group, Katha, Kulay, Karamay, held their annual gift-giving event, distributing slippers, food, and school supplies to 300 children with disabilities.

“I’m happy with the gifts I received,” said Giovanni, a beneficiary.

According to Danilo Bambico, Adopt a School Coordinator of the Baguio City SPED Center, “The program’s objective is how they were chosen and how this helps them.”

Among the beneficiaries were 100 students from the Baguio City SPED Center.
