While digging in a mine in Barangay Camp 3, Tuba, Benguet, a group of men unearthed a metallic object on December 9.
Upon inspection, it turned out to be no ordinary piece of metal but a vintage bomb.
The Regional Explosive Ordnance Disposal and K9 Unit immediately responded.
Upon investigation, it was identified as a general-purpose bomb measuring over 53 inches in length and weighing 1,000 pounds or approximately 500 kilograms.
With assistance from the Tuba Municipal Police Station, they carefully excavated the bomb.
Once deemed safe from detonation, the bomb was taken by the EOD unit to a staging area at the Benguet Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal and K9 Unit before being transported for disposal in Tarlac province.
Meanwhile, two additional marijuana plantations were uncovered in the province of Benguet.
