“People feel different when there are lights. We want our family, our children, and our grandchildren, as well as others, to appreciate these lights,” said Norma Arevalo, Homeowner.

This was the last message from Mrs. Norma Arevalo, ten days before Christmas in December 2022.

It was also the last year she personally designed their house on Gaerland Street.

Her words served as inspiration for her 11 children to keep the lights shining on their home this Christmas.

“We will keep the tradition as long as we can, and as long as we can, we will keep the tradition,” said Tarahata Arevalo, daughter of the homeowner.

The tradition has been alive for over three decades, and each year, the house is adorned with abundant Christmas decorations.

There’s a giant Christmas tree, inflatable Santa and friends, and much more.

Vibrant colors are accompanied by festive music.

Even the neighbors eagerly anticipate the display every year, with some even breaking into dance.

“It’s beautiful to look at. Every December, it’s rare to see and have a neighbor like that,” said Cheska Aromin, a resident.

“Every year, the design changes. It’s joyful,” said Mary Ann Viterbo, a resident.

The lights and decorations are so captivating that even motorists stop to take photos.

“Yes, it relieves fatigue when you see it. It feels like Christmas,” said Marco Reyes, a motorist.

“It’s just delightful to look at, especially when work keeps you busy. It’s beautiful,” said Renz Garcia, a motorist.

The decorations outside are abundant, and stepping inside, you’ll be greeted by a singing Christmas tree.

Every corner is filled with Christmas decorations, even featuring a train.

There’s a 12-foot-tall Christmas tree, a Christmas carousel, angels, and more.

Even the dining table is adorned with Christmas decor.

Co. Filoteo Arevalo, homeover, stated, “This is our commitment to the people of Baguio every Christmas, to our children, and especially to those vacationing here.”

Though the light of their household has physically passed, the values and brilliance she left behind will remain alive for generations to come.
