Sigay town policemen in Ilocos Sur caught Tuesdaymorning a barangay councilman who beat to death a senior citizen whom he caught was sexually molesting his mentally-challenged wife in Barangay Matallucod in that town.
Police learned that Barangay Matallucod kagawad Claudio Wayasen Gapay, 50, caught Romeo Lames, 69, also his villagemate, on top of his wife prompting him to beat up the latter and finish him off with a hard wood.
Sigay police also learned that the village official went to visit his wife who was staying at a different house Monday night, but chanced upon Lames taking advantage of his wife.
The suspect is now under police custody.
