The son of a Benguet State University professor and coach is the ruler of the Mount Pulag 100 King of the Mountain Trail Run over the weekend.
Rhys Inso Pawid needed 18 hours, 35 minutes and 57 seconds to complete the 100-kilometer run that ended at the Camp John Hay Ayala Technohub.
Pawid, son of BSU’s Harland Pawid, was at his lonesome when he crossed the finish line at the ROX inside the technohub.
The run started at Luzon’s second highest peak of Mount Pulag in Kabayan, Benguet.
The route took the 88 male and female finishers to Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya, then entered Benguet via Itogon all the way to Camp John Hay in Baguio.
Nearly two hours later, Romando Cumalhing arrived with his official time of 20:17:29. Elmer Retolado completed the podium with a clocking of 20:39:57.
The rest of the top 10 male finishers are Don Antonio Santillan, Thang Hoang Huu, Benedick Gulapa, Aleksis Capili, Jovencio Luspian, Alfonso Mapalo, Jr. and Wayne Abarquez.
Marjorie Velo finished 13th and the best female finisher with a time of one day – 2:31:45.
Maria Cecilia Kiswa, Jessica Amos and Isabel Milagros Quispe finished 22nd to 24th overall and third to fourth placers in the distaff side. Pigeon Lobien
