With pop music dominating playlists today, many have overlooked the unique magic of jazz–a genre that speaks deeply of emotion, creativity, and cultural expression.
Jazz is all about the mood, chill, relaxed, yet deeply expressive. It is rooted in freedom, allowing artists to explore their emotions through sound.
This April 30, the world celebrates International Jazz Day, a global event that recognizes the role of jazz in promoting peace and unity.
It was officially introduced in 2011 by UNESCO, with the support of world-renowned jazz musician Herbie Hancock.
The goal of the celebration is to highlight jazz as a tool for freedom, diplomacy, and cultural understanding.
But long before International Jazz Day existed, jazz was already making waves as the music of African-Americans in early 20th century New Orleans, USA.
Over time, it grew into a worldwide movement.
Studies even show that jazz can positively impact mental health by reducing stress and improving mood.
So if you’re searching for a new genre to explore, something smooth, emotional, and thoughtful, try listening to jazz.
