Questions about citizenship, overspending in campaigns, and many others.
These are just some of the frequent concerns raised during elections.
But these questions can now be answered and clarified in the second edition of “Insider’s Note on Election Law: I AM DQ”.
The book was written by Attorney Elenita Julia Tabangin-Capuyan, an election lawyer.
The contents of her book are based on her 34 years of service at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
“This is an advocacy of mine. I love election laws! This book is a testament to my love for election law and my desire to share what I know about elections,” said Atty. Elenita Julia Tabangin-Capuyan, Author of the Insider’s Note on Election Law: I AM DQ.
Through storytelling, the book is said to explain election laws clearly, particularly Sections 12, 68, 69, and 78 of the Omnibus Election Code;
Section 40 of the Local Government Code;
And other provisions related to Republic Act Number 6646, or the Electoral Reforms Law of 1987.
It also addresses questions about filing disqualification cases, supported by Supreme Court rulings.
“There are a lot of things in this book that aren’t in common references because they don’t appear in summaries of Supreme Court rulings. If you’re a politician, you might want to read this,” she added.
This book is particularly helpful for election lawyer Atty. Francis, who started practicing in 2022.
Apart from being a source of additional knowledge, he can also use it to teach election law and handle election-related cases.
The language used is simple, so even an ordinary citizen like Juan can easily understand its content.
“The clarity, the brevity, that’s Atty.’s talent. You don’t have to be technical to explain things,” said Atty. Francis Abril, practitioner.
The book is available for 399 pesos.
In 2022, Atty. Elenita first released the initial edition of her Insider’s Note on Election Law, and more volumes are expected to be added in the coming years.
