With 58 confirmed new Covid-19 cases on Easter Sunday, the municipal government of Aringay, La Union has requested the La Union Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) and the Ilocos Regional IATF to declare the whole town under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from April 7 until further notice.
The town had 87 individuals tested during the contact tracing of close contacts of the previous cases in the different parts of the municipality of which 67 percent or 58 individuals testing positive.
With the high number of cases, the local government unit (LGU) through its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) has announced that while awaiting for the approval of an ECQ for the whole town, two barangays – Poblacion and San Antonio – where cases are high, will be under ECQ.
On the other hand, barangays San Benito Norte and Dulao will be under modified ECQ starting today until further notice. The rest of the barangays of Aringay, said the MDRRMO, will still be under modified general community quarantine.
The LGU also advised that only essential travels will be allowed in and out of the municipality while all persons entering the municipality need to pass through the municipal triage.
The municipality also stated that it will only accept persons from the National Capital Region (NCR), the neighboring provinces of Laguna, Bulacan, Cavite and Rizal as well as other high risk areas if they present RT-PCR negative test results.
As of 11 PM of Monday, La Union has logged 215 new cases and 1 Covid-19 related deaths. The province has also 1,172 active cases.
