Persons with Disability (PWDs) in Pugo can now perform daily tasks more easily.
Through the efforts of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), three PWDs received prostheses.
A representative from MSWDO explained the process of providing assistance.
“The requirement is that they must be registered as Persons with Disabilities at the PDAO, the Persons with Disability Affairs Office. Once registered, they are issued a valid ID, and we assess who among them needs prostheses,” said Jessie Ann Duclayan, MSWDO Officer – Pugo, La Union.
Each beneficiary received a check worth 25,000 pesos, which is paid directly to the supplier to ensure they receive high-quality devices.
“This program has been part of MSWDO’s regular services since the PWD law was enacted. We provide financial assistance for prostheses, hearing devices, and other equipment needed by Persons with Disabilities,” Duclayan added.
According to MSWDO, four residents have already received prostheses, but they also provide other assistive devices such as wheelchairs and hearing aids to address the community’s diverse needs.
