The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is once again reminding public utility drivers, especially taxi and jeepney drivers, about the importance of wearing their prescribed uniforms while on duty.
Taxis continue to be one of the main transportation modes in Baguio City, serving both residents and tourists.
That’s why the LTFRB stresses the importance of professionalism and cleanliness in appearance among drivers and operators.
Under the Public Transport Modernization Program and Department Order No. 2017-011 of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), all PUV drivers are required to wear uniforms with designated color codes depending on the type of vehicle they drive.
Drivers must also wear proper footwear.
The LTFRB has emphasized that wearing only a t-shirt or a sleeveless shirt while driving is not allowed.
Violators will be fined 5,000 pesos for the first offense, 10,000 pesos for the second, and 15,000 pesos along with the cancellation of their Certificate of Public Convenience on the third offense.
The Certificate of Public Convenience is the legal document that allows a franchise to operate a certain number of units along specified routes.
The public is encouraged to report any drivers seen not wearing the proper uniform to help ensure compliance and maintain professionalism in public transportation.
