MAN, DIES AFTER BEING TRAPPED IN A BURNING BAR IN BAGUIO CITY; WELDING, ALLEGEDLY CAUSED THE FIRE

Firefighters braved thick smoke in a bar along Legarda Road in Baguio City.

This was after a fire broke out around 8:00 AM.

A man was pulled from the burning bar unconscious, and he was rushed to the hospital in hopes of revival.

But after a few minutes, he was declared dead on arrival.

According to the victim’s coworker, Tatay Silvestre, they were welding soundproofing materials on the bar wall when the incident happened.

He quickly ran out to seek help but his coworker was left inside.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), two people were injured. One is still in the hospital, while the other was declared dead minutes after being brought to the medical facility.

The fire reached the first alarm but was declared fire out at 9:21 AM.

The fire destroyed several items inside the bar, including animals, which didn’t survive the blaze.

The BFP will continue to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the damage.

This is the fifth fire incident in the city this year.
