A 20-year old villager was declared dead on arrival moments after falling into a deep ravine in upland Quirino town in Ilocos Sur at around 10:00 OM Wednesday.
Revin Sobredo from Barangay Poblacion, Quirino, was drinking with someone when he felt the need to relieve himself. He reportedly stood up and peed near a ravine, but was outbalanced and fell.
Qurino town police said Sobredo had drank too much alcohol losing his sense of balance.
Policemen and firemen at the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) aided by some residents who were alerted of the incident rushed the victim to the hospital but Sobredo did not make it because of multiple injuries including a fatal wound on the head.
It was the second falling incident in the area, it was learned, where the first victim survived because there were still trees in the ravine that prevented the first victim from falling further.
