Man drowns in La Union

A man was declared dead at a hospital after he drowned at a beach in Barangay Ili Sur, San Juan, La Union Saturday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Mark Aries Valdez, 20, from the said barangay.

Based on the investigation of the San Juan police, Valdez was swimming with his cousins and friend when a strong wave pulled him underwater. The companions of the victim who was already drowning sought for help.

One of the local surfers in the area managed to pull out the victim from the water.

Valdez was unconscious when he was brought ashore.

The rescuers tried ro revived the victim while he was being rushed to the hospital but did not make it.

The authorities are reminding the public especially the beach goers to be always careful and stay alert.
