A man’s body was discovered in a secluded area in Bantay, Ilocos Sur, on March 11, bearing multiple stab wounds. Authorities are investigating whether his loan business was a motive for the killing.
Police found the victim, later identified as Clavel Quitevis Estigoy, 56, lying face down and covered in blood in a grassy area in Barangay Cabaroan. A resident jogging in the area reported the discovery to authorities.
According to the Bantay Municipal Police Station, the victim had been stabbed 11 times in the back. He was last seen leaving his office at around 7 p.m. on March 10 before being found dead the next morning. His motorcycle was later found abandoned in Barangay Balaleng.
Police have yet to determine whether Estigoy was abducted before being killed or if the crime took place at the scene where he was found. Investigators are conducting CCTV backtracking and follow-up inquiries to establish the circumstances of his death.
Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward to help in solving the case and providing justice to Estigoy’s family. His remains have been brought to Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, for the wake.
