Will you take on the savings challenge this 2025?
Small coins can amount to something big, just like 46-year-old Rogelio from Agoo, La Union.
He kept his savings in a secret piggy bank.
At first, he only saved occasionally, but eventually, it became a daily habit.
“It became an addiction. I used to spend on alcohol, but now I just put it in my piggy bank,” said Rogelio Fortes Jr., savings challenger.
Rogelio owns a sari-sari store, and his wife works abroad.
His savings journey lasted two years.
When the time came to count his saving, it filled two buckets and amounted to 126,000 pesos.
The money was used to buy a new motorcycle.
Because of the weight of the coins, two people had to lift and push the buckets.
The motorcycle is a gift for his son, who achieved high grades and will use it for school transportation.
His advice to those who want to take on the savings challenge: It doesn’t matter how much you save as long as you do it consistently. Your efforts will pay off.
