President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., along with his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and his sister, Irene Marcos, cast their votes early Monday morning at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Elementary School in Batac, Ilocos Norte.
The President arrived at exactly 7 AM and was accompanied by Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos.
Before entering the precinct, the President briefly greeted and shook hands with fellow voters.
Inside the polling station, he verified his information, received his ballot, and completed the voting process.
After a few minutes, he fed his ballot into the automated counting machine, reviewed his receipt, and waited for his mother to finish voting.
Other members of the Marcos family are also expected to vote throughout the day.
In a one-minute video posted online, President Marcos emphasized the importance of exercising the right to vote.
“Let’s use our right to vote. This is our chance to be heard, to express our hopes not only for ourselves but for the country,” he said.
He also called for peaceful and orderly elections, saying, “We may have different beliefs, that’s the spirit of democracy. But our differences should not lead to violence and threats. We fight for the future through the ballot, not through the streets, not through violence. Let’s vote with honesty and end this election with dignity and peace.”
Meanwhile, Sandro Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos voted separately at Calayab Elementary School in Laoag City.
