MARIJUANA BRICKS WORTH P2.2-M, FOUND IN TABUK CITY, KALINGA; MARIJUANA WORTH P75-K, SEIZED IN A BUY-BUST OPERATION; FORMER DRUG PEDDLER, ARRESTED AGAIN FOR SELLING SHABU

At around 12:00 noon on Sunday, January 26, authorities discovered numerous blocks of dried marijuana leaves near the cemetery in Sitio Ileb, Barangay Nambaran, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

During the police inventory, 19 blocks were found packed inside a sack.

According to Pltcol. Benson Macli-Ing, Acting Chief of Police – Tabuk City Police Station, “It was in Nambaran, near the cemetery, exactly at that location.”

The marijuana bricks have an estimated value of around 2.2 million pesos.

In the initial investigation, police said that the items were left in the area by unidentified individuals.

“The report suggests it was left there, abandoned. There’s no CCTV in that area,” Macli-ing added.

Authorities are still investigating where the drugs came from and why they were left at the site.

Meanwhile, authorities also confiscated blocks of dried marijuana leaves in Baguio City.

This happened during a buy-bust operation conducted by PDEA-Cordillera in Barangay Burnham-Legarda-Kisad at around 12:00 midnight on Monday, January 27.

A 36-year-old male from Bulacan was arrested during the operation.

He was found in possession of 10 marijuana bricks weighing approximately 10 kilograms, valued at 75,000 pesos.

In addition to this, two pieces of suspected dried marijuana wrapped in paper were also seized from him.

A man was arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by PDEA Ilocos Region and Pangasinan PPO in Villasis, Pangasinan on the evening of January 27.

The suspect was identified as Avelino Manzano Mencias Jr., 40 years old, and a resident of the area.

He sold a packet of shabu to PDEA operatives, weighing approximately five grams and valued at 34,000 pesos.

Mencias was previously imprisoned for drug-related offenses.

All suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
