The decomposing body of a man who had been missing for a week was found along the shoreline of Barangay Laois in Labrador, Pangasinan, on Wednesday afternoon, January 7.
The body was discovered at around 5 p.m. by a student, who immediately reported the incident to barangay officials.
Police Lieutenant Maray Grace Espino, intelligence officer of the Labrador Municipal Police Station, said authorities were alerted shortly after the report was made.
At the time of discovery, the victim was described as medium-built, around 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a black T-shirt and without any lower garments.
Through a fast alarm operation conducted on January 8, police were able to identify the victim as a 48-year-old resident of Binmaley, Pangasinan.
Investigation revealed that the man had been reported missing by his relatives on January 2.
Police said there were no signs of foul play in his death.
Espino said the victim was allegedly experiencing psychological problems and had a history of trauma.
She added that families should closely monitor relatives who may be struggling mentally to prevent similar incidents.
The victim’s remains have since been turned over to his family for proper burial.
