A 38-year-old motorcycle rider died after crashing into a parked water delivery truck along Km 5, Asin Road, on Saturday, March 30.
According to the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), the rider was on his way home when the accident occurred.
Public Information Officer PMaj. Marcy Grace Marron stated that the motorcycle was going uphill on a curved section of the road when it hit the stationary truck. The area was dimly lit, which may have prevented the rider from seeing the truck in time.
The victim sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Residents in the area said this was not the first accident at the location and have called on local officials to install additional streetlights to improve visibility.
Data from the BCPO shows that from January to March 2025, the city recorded 253 vehicular traffic accidents—an increase from the 195 cases reported in the same period last year. Of these, four cases resulted in reckless imprudence leading to homicide, double the number from 2024.
