A great mystery still hounds the death of artist Breanna Patricia Jonson or Bree Jonson, 30.
Jonson was found lifeless on September 18, 2021 in a hotel in San Juan, La Union.
San Juan police claims to have found a large haul of cocaine in the room where the artist was dead.
Jonson’s boyfriend, Julian Ongpin, who was with her in the room was invited by the police, though has released him.
According to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Guillermo Eleazar, the La Union Provincial prosecutor ordered the release of Ongpin while the investigation is ongoing.
Eleazar said the police filed appropriate charges against Ongpin after he tested positive for drug use, prompting “howls” from netizens and some quarters suspecting foul play.
While the Department of Justice (DOJ) said it will issue a lookout order against Ongpin.
The mother of the artist, Sally, who just arrived from Canada on September 20, 2021 expressed disappointment after delays in the autopsy procedure on her daughter.
The victim’s mother had to go under quarantine for five days before seeing his daughter’s remains at a morgue in San Fernando City, La Union.
Eleazar said they are just awaiting the result of the autopsy to determine if there are additional charges the police can file against Ongpin, a son of billionaire and former trade secretary and Alphaland property developer Roberto Ongpin.
The father of Breanna is also planning to file charges against Ongpin.
