NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL, SEEKS TO RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE WEST PHILIPPINE SEA ISSUE

Amid repeated collisions between Philippine and Chinese vessels, the Philippines remains steadfast in asserting its rights over the West Philippine Sea.

The Philippines continues to uphold the 2016 arbitration ruling of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

To further raise public awareness on this issue, the National Security Council launched the National Security Roadshow in partnership with the DILG and other government offices.

This is part of the ongoing effort to preserve the country’s territorial integrity.

For Barangay Captain Carol, it is crucial for Filipinos to stand up for their rights over the West Philippine Sea.

She also emphasized the importance of strengthening the Philippines’ relationship with allied countries in promoting peace in the Indo-Pacific region.

A study by Stratbase ADR, an independent international research organization, shows that 72% of Filipinos believe that the country’s relationships with other nations should be strengthened to protect the West Philippine Sea.

Meanwhile, the United States has earlier expressed support for the Philippines’ resupply missions in the West Philippine Sea.

In addition to providing accurate information, the Philippines continues to train with other countries for humanitarian resupply missions.
