A new creative space quietly opened its doors during the Panagbenga Festival, offering artists a platform for soulful expression and creative freedom through a month-long exhibit that ran from February 7 to 28.
Titled Awakening in Full Bloom, the exhibit marked the first major project of independent collective Halik ng Likha, a group formed by two friends who aim to establish a welcoming and sincere space for artists.
“This is the first time we organized an exhibit. We plan to hold it monthly starting this Panagbenga,” shared organizer Zylan Yvonne Blando.
More than 30 artists participated in the showcase, presenting works using acrylic, oil-based paint, and watercolor.
Although it opened during Panagbenga, organizers said planning for the exhibit began as early as December.
The collection features themes of spiritual awakening, reflections on Baguio’s history, and interpretative pieces that explore culture, societal issues, hope, healing, and compassion.
At the heart of the exhibit is the theme Awakening Blooms of Love, which symbolizes rebirth and transformation.
“The theme itself ignites inspiration in oneself to transform into the better version of yourself,” Blando said.
Organizers described the exhibit as a passion project designed to encourage individuality and honest artistic expression.
In a city known for its strong artistic identity, the exhibit serves as an invitation for both artists and audiences to reflect, grow, and reconnect with the power of creative storytelling.
