New RDC-Cordillera chair calls for more aggressive campaign against the CPP-NPA

Newly-installed chair of the Regional Development Council (RDC)-Cordillera, Apayao Gov. Elias Bulut Jr, recently made a pronouncement on giving incentives for locals in Apayao who can report on the location of camps of NPA rebels in the province. This call shows the commitment of the governor to effectively prevent these terrorists from entering Apayao, and insulating the residents from terror.

It is encouraging that we have a leader like Gov Bulut, who is now taking a more deliberate effort to address the threat posed by the CPP-NPA, which has never been made a priority by the LGUs in the past until the Duterte Administration launched the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict or the NTFELCAC.

This initiative of Gov Bulut is laudable and paves the way for sustaining the gains of the campaign of the previous administration in ending the problem caused by the CPP-NPA-NDF since 1968. As RDC-Cordillera Chair, Gov Bulut can expand his advocacy to the rest of the region by urging his fellow provincial governors and local chief executives in the Cordillera to do the same.

While the good governor has taken an important step, we as citizens, should also do our share to support this campaign by reporting any information we may have on the CPP-NPA-NDF. Let us extend our utmost cooperation to the local government and also call upon local officials to act on our reports. After all, promoting peace in our communities is also our obligation – our duty to our country and our families.   Let us make this as our personal commitment to keep our communities safe from the threat posed by this terrorist organization, which has done nothing but spread violence for some senseless political agenda.

Report their activities and help end their terror!
