NUJP BAGUIO-BENGUET CHAPTER, JUSTICE STILL ECHOES ON THE 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AMPATUAN MASSACRE

One of the darkest chapters in the history of journalism in the Philippines is the Maguindanao Massacre.

In fact, it is one of the stories that left a mark on Lyndee, who was only 6 years old at the time.

In these photos, we see the gruesome killing of 34 journalists who were part of the caravan for the candidacy of then Esmael Mangudadatu for governor of Maguindanao in 2009.

But as she took up Communication as her course, it became clearer to her the threats to journalists’ lives in the country.

But on the 15th anniversary of the massacre on Saturday, November 23, justice still seems elusive for the 34 journalists.

Thus, the call for justice was expressed by the group in a short ceremony.

This took place during a protest at Burnham Lake, where candles were lit for the victims of the massacre.

Even though some of the accused have passed away, NUJP continues to call for justice, which some family members of the victims were not able to witness.

Although 15 years have passed, the hope for justice remains alive among the family and friends of the victims.
