BREAKING NEWS!

OPERATIONS IN BURNHAM PARK, TEMPORARILY HALTED DUE TO TYPHOON NIKA

This morning, Burnham Park looked like a ghost town.

The bicycle rental stations were tied down and covered with tarpaulins.

“For safety reasons, for safety purposes. I’m just fixing things to keep everything in order, and I also fed the stray cats,” said alias ‘Pogskie,’ a bike concessionaire.

There were no boats in Burnham Lake either.

The koi fish aquarium at the Rose Garden was also covered with a net, and construction for the European-style Christmas Bazaar has temporarily halted.

Operations for these will resume once the weather improves.

Authorities continue to monitor the water level at Silatation Dam, also known as City Camp Lagoon.

City Engineering Office staff and barangay officials began removing debris that could block the dam.

“We’re leading this because the typhoon is coming, and there’s more trash being collected,” said Engr. Orlando Genove, Acting City Engineer at City Engineering Office.

“We hope that as members of the community, we all take responsibility and think carefully,” said Punong Barangay Silvino Cominga Jr. of Barangay Lower Rock Quarry.

If the trash blocks the dam, nearby barangays could face flooding.

Authorities are on alert in case residents need to be evacuated due to flooding.
