The first part of the year was joyous and meaningful for over 1,000 indigent senior citizens in Pugo, La Union.
They received their first-quarter pension from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Each beneficiary received 3,000 pesos, personally handed over by Mayor Kurt Walter Martin.
This pension serves as a big help for their needs, including medicine, food, and other expenses.
The program is in line with the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 (RA 9994), which aims to improve the quality of life for senior citizens by providing financial assistance, especially to those with no other source of income.
For seniors who have not yet registered, the DSWD and local government continue to encourage them to visit their offices and enroll in the program.
Meanwhile, another recognition was awarded to the local government of Pugo.
During the flag-raising ceremony on February 10, the LGU of Pugo received a Certificate of Recognition as a Sustainable Alliance Partner for its successful implementation of solid waste management programs.
This award is the result of the collective efforts of the local government and the community in maintaining cleanliness in the town.
Through proper waste segregation, collection, and disposal, Pugo continues to be a model in environmental protection.
Additionally, promotions within the Pugo PNP were also recognized as a testament to their dedication to public service.
Mayor Kurt Walter Martin expressed gratitude to all government employees and residents for their continued support of the town’s programs.
