Early in the morning, about two hundred people had already lined up at the Provincial Capitol of Benguet, carrying various documents and requirements.
Their goal is to find a job that will support their daily needs.
One of those patiently waiting in line was 27-year-old Robertson, who hopes to work abroad.
“The job I’m aiming for is as a general worker, warehouse or factory. I’m planning to work overseas,” said Robertson Tuginay, a jobseeker.
Twenty-one-year-old Diarie also dreams of going abroad.
But if things don’t go as planned, she says she’ll work hard in any job offered to her.
“Hopefully, nursing aid or caregiving. So that in the future, when I return, I’ll have savings for a business here, like that,” said Diarie Bolislis, also a jobseeker.
Around 2,000 jobs both locally and internationally are being offered at the job fair at the Capitol in celebration of the 2024 Adivay Festival.
According to Julie Tabcao, Labor and Employment Officer III, at the Provincial Governor’s Office, “We have so many vacancies available right now, and we’ve hired many on the spot, we’ll consolidate after this. Every Adivay Festival, we have this job fair; it’s part of the Adivay celebration.”
More are expected to join the last day of the job fair to find employment.
