The provincial government of Pangasinan has been recognized for its outstanding implementation of the “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” program, helping more than 2,500 local exhibitors and MSMEs bring their products directly to consumers.
On June 23, the Department of Agriculture Region 1 awarded Pangasinan as the Regional Outstanding Kadiwa ng Pangulo LGU Implementer during the 50th Gawad Saka Regional Awarding Ceremony.
The award was received by Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Baby Ruth Torre and Office of the Provincial Agriculture (OPAG) Head Dolly Moya, on behalf of the province.
The initiative began in September 2022 as “Kadiwa on Wheels na Kapitolyo” and was formally renamed “Kadiwa na Kapitolyo” in January of the following year.
Since then, the province has launched over 90 Kadiwa-related events in collaboration with local governments and partner agencies.
The total sales from these events have reached 20 million pesos, directly benefiting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and giving farmers and producers a reliable market.
The ongoing support from the local government and the collaboration between farmers and consumers have proven that agriculture can be empowered through grassroots partnerships.
Pangasinan’s efforts continue to serve as a model for other provinces seeking to bridge local products with community needs, strengthening both livelihoods and food security.
