The devastation left by Typhoon Kristine in the country is tragic.
The typhoon affected 7 million people or around 1.7 million families.
The Bicol region suffered the most, with 2.3 million people impacted.
Central Luzon followed, with over 1 million affected, and CALABARZON with 752,000 individuals.
According to Mayor Nelson Legacion of Naga City, “This is unprecedented; it’s the first time our city has experienced this level of impact. During Typhoon Kristine, 22 out of 27 barangays were affected.”
Almost one million people were evacuated.
Over 100,000 homes were damaged: 104,740 partially and 6,437 totally.
“For those with totally damaged homes, we provide 30,000 pesos or socialized housing,” said Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar.
The President has already ordered immediate assistance for those affected.
According to the National Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC), assistance totaling 850,617,776 pesos has been provided to victims of two recent typhoons so far.
