The sky seemed furious with the heavy rain and whistling winds.
This was how Typhoon Pepito battered Benguet on the night of November 17.
But by the break of dawn the following day, the sky seemed to brighten.
At the same time, George Punasen’s group woke up early to prepare relief goods for around seventy affected families in Itogon.
George himself personally handed the aid to them.
“This is a big help to us because no one is working during the rainy season. It’s also hard to travel, especially when the roads are collapsing,” said Cristy Biag, a resident from Itogon.
“We are thankful for Sir Tulfo’s office for the help provided to the less fortunate. Sir George is our coordinator. We also thank him, Apo George,” said Punong Barangay Tony Pesase of Barangay Ucab, Itogon.
Hon. George Punasen, Head of RTIA Center Northern Luzon, stated, “Of course, we know that many of our fellow citizens are affected by the typhoon, so we prepared and packed early in the morning. You know that the work of our office is action-oriented.”
He also visited and provided aid to families affected by a landslide incident in Barangay Virac during the peak of Typhoon Marce.
George also distributed kilos of rice.
According to Teressa Tam-ug, a resident, “It’s difficult to buy food there because, like us seniors, it’s hard to travel, and we need a convoy to bring our purchases.”
“Although the government has a program to provide help, at the Action Center in Trinidad, we continue to do our work and help as long as we can,” said Punasen.
He promised that his group would continue providing aid to other families affected by the recent consecutive typhoons.
