P12-M WORTH OF MARIJUANA PLANTS, DESTROYED IN KIBUNGAN, BENGUET; OVER P6-M WORTH OF MARIJUANA PLANTS, DESTROYED BY PDEA AT THE ILOCOS SUR-BENGUET BOUNDARY

PDEA and PNP personnel burned approximately P12 million worth of marijuana in Benguet province.

This was the result of a nearly week-long operation conducted by PDEA and PNP Cordillera.

The operation took place from February 17 to February 20.

A total of 34,000 marijuana plants were destroyed, along with 45 kilos of dried marijuana leaves.

The operation was carried out in Sitio Dalipey, Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet.

However, no cultivators were apprehended.

Because of this, the agency assured that they will continue their efforts to track down cultivators, especially in remote areas of Benguet.

Meanwhile, personnel from PDEA Ilocos Region and Sugpon PNP raided marijuana plantations in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur.

The plantations were located at the boundary of Barangay Licungan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, and Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet.

In a two-day operation, authorities destroyed more than 25,000 marijuana plants and 3,500 seedlings valued at P6.1 million.

No cultivators were caught during the operation.
