P150K WORTH OF SHABU, SEIZED IN A DRUG DEN RAID IN BACNOTAN, LA UNION; A BARANGAY TANOD AND TWO MEN ARRESTED

Drug paraphernalia and shabu were seized by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1 during the serving of a search warrant at a suspected drug den in Barangay Raois, Bacnotan, La Union.

The operation was conducted yesterday at around six in the morning, October 14. Arrested were Marc Glen Buton Sauro, 39 years old; Francis Florenia, 25 years old; and barangay tanod Ismael Oliveros Sauro Jr., 63 years old.

PDEA recovered 12 packets of shabu weighing 30 grams, as well as a packet containing dried marijuana leaves.  

The total value of these illegal drugs is more than 150,000 pesos.  

They will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, in the Cordillera, police raided marijuana plantations in the towns of Bakun and Kibungan, Benguet.  

Over 5,000 marijuana plants were uprooted and burned on October 13, with a value exceeding one million pesos.  

In the town of Tinglayan, Kalinga, 3,000 marijuana plants were destroyed, valued at 600,000 pesos.  

No cultivators were apprehended during the operations.
