Pacio, Team Lakay more watched on FB than Steph, LeBron or Messi

TEAM LAKAY is one of the more popular teams in the ONE Championship which has garnered more viewers in 2021 than bigger sports organizations like the National Basketball Association, the UEFA, the International Cricket Council or the National Football League. That means that Lakay superstars like Eduard Folayang, Joshua Pacio may have been watched by more people than Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Christiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Tiger Woods and tennis’s Big Three, which unfortunately is not in the top 20. Joshua Pacio, Eduard Folayang and the Team Lakay may have been viewed by more people than say NBA superstars LeBron James or Stephen Curry or Formula 1’s Lewis Hamilton and its new king Max Verstappen or maybe even tennis megastars Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic.

This after ONE Championship racked up 8.84 billion organic views on Facebook beating longer established sports organizations like the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) or the International Cricket Council or ICC.

The report saw WWE logging 7.92 billion views, while the highly popular ICC is third with less than a third of ONE’s viewings with 2.61 billion views.

Moreover, both sports properties averaged more posts than ONE, which has 10.79 posts a day, compared with WWE’s 13.34 and ICC’s 18.88.

The statistics show that the past 12 months had been good for ONE Championship which has been affected by the lockdown and had all its fights shown on Facebook live or streaming with no physical audience.

The chair of the world’s biggest mixed martial arts organization took to social media channels the success and gave a shout out to all ONE fans who helped make the success a reality.

In an Instagram post, Chatri Sityodtong wrote: “For 2021, ONE ranked #1 in the world of 5,000+ sports properties in terms of organic video views! Thank you to the greatest fans in the world!”

He then thanked his staff for the achievement as he added: ““Congratulations to all of my teammates at ONE for this extraordinary achievement!”

The National Basketball Association came in fourth with 1.85 billion viewers followed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC, the American equivalent of ONE, with 1.65 billion or less than a fifth of ONE’s viewership.

The UEFA Champions League, where the world’s highest paid athletes like Lionel Messia, Christiano Ronaldo and Neymar play, came in sixth with 1.5 billion ahead of Verstappen and the Formula 1, which ended with a sour note when Verstappen overtook Lewis in the final lap of the final stage to win, at seventh with 1.14 billion.

Trailing close is the Professional Golf Association with 1.09 billion viewers and completing the top 10 is American football under the National Football League at 918.54 million.

MotoGP, or Grand Prix motorcycle, is at 11th with 873.34 million, the Major League Baseball, America’s beloved sport, is at 12th with 628 million viewers.

A distant 13th is the National Hockey League which had 461.48 million viewers, while Major League Soccer, the American counterpart of UEFA, is at 14th with 234.69 million viewers.

The Indian Premiere League, the all India-cricket organization, sits at 15th with 219.52, followed by the American car racing organization NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) with 118.96 million.

Another MMA organization, Bellator MMA, sits at 17th with 115.57 million combined viewers, while the German football organization Bundesliga is at 18th with 105.33 million viewers.

With less than 100 million combined viewers are 19th ranked Professional Fighters League MMA, another American outfit, with 88.54 million and Combate Global, also American, with 23.89 million.
