Pangasinan continues to gain recognition as a top travel destination, thanks to the consistent efforts of the provincial government in improving and promoting its tourism sector.

According to the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO), more than eight million tourists visited various attractions in the province in 2024.

Among the most visited destinations is Patar Beach in Bolinao, known for its white sand and clear waters that attract both local and international visitors.

“Before, our guests would only come here to swim. They’d spend the whole day just enjoying the water,” said Ronnie Gonzales, tourism staff at Patar Beach. “Now, we offer banana boat rides, crystal kayaking, and even island hopping here in Patar.”

The rise in tourist numbers has also opened opportunities for locals to start small businesses.

Souvenir shops and food stalls have sprouted in the area, helping residents earn a living.

“The locals here were given a chance to build their own businesses like souvenir shops and food stalls,” Gonzales added. “It really helped many people earn more because Bolinao has become an opportunity hub for our fellow Pangasinenses.”

Aside from beaches, the religious site Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag remains a major draw for pilgrims and tourists alike.

Thousands visit the church to offer prayers and seek blessings.

In terms of culture and heritage, the Banaan Museum stands out with eleven galleries featuring artifacts, artworks, and interactive displays.

“Governor Ramon Guico’s advocacy has been very effective,” said Nathaniel Joey Daroy, head of the Museum Services Division of PTCAO. “Under his leadership, this museum was built because, as he said, cultural education is very important. We need to know and understand our cultural identity.”

With more programs in place, the provincial government aims to further strengthen Pangasinan’s tourism and economic opportunities while promoting its history and culture.
