PASSENGER JEEP, FALLS INTO RAVINE IN BAGUIO CITY; DRIVER FALLS ASLEEP, CRASHES INTO SUV IN BAGUIO CITY

A passenger jeep fell into a four-meter ravine in Barangay Pinget, Baguio City, at around 5:40 PM on March 21. Several passengers were rushed to the hospital following the accident.

According to Barangay Kagawad Gabriel Bayangdan, the jeep was moving downhill when it swerved to the side to give way to an approaching vehicle.

As it did, the riprap supporting the road collapsed, causing the vehicle to plunge into the ravine.

Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Public Information Officer Major Marcy Grace Marron confirmed that the jeep fell into a house under construction after the parapet wall gave way.

The 55-year-old driver and two passengers sustained injuries and were immediately taken to a medical facility.

One of the passengers, a woman, experienced chest tightness and required further medical attention.

The driver has committed to covering the medical expenses of the injured passengers.

A collision between a sedan and an SUV caused heavy traffic along Legarda Road, Baguio City, at around 5:00 AM on March 21.

According to police reports, the 53-year-old sedan driver, who was heading toward Marcos Highway, allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into an oncoming SUV.

BCPO Public Information Officer Major Marcy Grace Marron confirmed that the incident occurred while the sedan driver was in transit.

Fortunately, the 24-year-old SUV driver was unharmed. Both parties have agreed to settle the matter privately.
