PBBM, ASSURES AID FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY TYPHOON KRISTINE

This is what a warehouse of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Cordillera looks like where boxes are stacked across the facility, along with containers of water.

Inside are essential supplies needed by those affected by calamities.

In times of disaster, these are crucial to a speedy recovery.

Thus, following Typhoon Kristine’s impact on the Bicol region, these supplies have been arriving nonstop.

Family food packs were prepositioned even before the storm hit.

“We are doing everything that we can. We have prepositioned goods already, that’s always the key, when the storm has passed,” PBBM assured.

For some residents, these supplies have provided a huge help.

But they hopes that in the coming years, even if calamities can’t be avoided, their impacts, especially problems with flooding will lessen.

According to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), 81 people have died, 66 are injured, and 34 remain missing due to Typhoon Kristine.

Nationwide, more than one million people have been affected, and 82,000 of them are staying in evacuation centers.

Earlier, the President announced efforts to improve flood control projects that align with modern developments and the escalating threat of calamities.
