Residents flocked on November 6 to the Rice for All Program by the NIA and Baguio City Veterinary and Agriculture Office, offering rice at 29 pesos per kilo at Igorot Garden.
Some buyers, however, were not as fortunate, as only 200 sacks of rice were available for sale.
Apart from the limited supply, only PWDs, senior citizens, and 4Ps members were prioritized to buy the rice.
That’s why President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants to further expand the program and add more outlets selling the “Bagong Bayaning Magsasaka” rice, or BBM rice.
This includes additional Kadiwa on Wheels and increasing the supply of rice to be sold.
The National Irrigation Administration, or NIA, is currently focused on encouraging more farmers to join the government’s program.
