After Typhoon Kristine battered the Cordillera, preparations are now underway for the onslaught of Typhoon Leon.
Thus, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) is once again intensively preparing.
According to Frankie Cortez, Spokesperson of the OCD – CAR, “The directive from Chairperson Mogol is to overprepare; we need to do everything for such scenarios. We still have enough (food packs) based on predictive analytics from DSWD DRRM; our supplies are still greater than the projected number of affected families.”
In the province of Cagayan, areas previously hit by Typhoon Kristine are once again being battered by Typhoon Leon.
As a result, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expediting immediate assistance to the affected.
Currently, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is focused on delivering aid to the affected areas in Luzon and the Visayas.
One of the concerns is that Typhoon Leon may impact the government’s relief operations.
The DSWD is doing everything possible to deliver assistance.
According to DSWD, 150,752 family food packs have already been distributed to those affected, including 3,231 non-food items worth PHP 111 million.
Currently, DSWD has a stockpile of 1.9 million family food packs ready for distribution.
