Authorities destroyed an estimated 18 million pesos worth of marijuana plants in a two-day eradication operation in the mountains of Kibungan, Benguet.
The operation, led by the Kibungan Municipal Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Cordillera, was conducted on April 1 and 2 in Sitio Loccok, Barangay Badeo.
Law enforcers discovered a 9,000-square-meter plantation containing approximately 90,000 marijuana plants.
No cultivators were apprehended during the operation.
Meanwhile, two separate anti-drug operations in Pangasinan led to the arrest of drug suspects and the seizure of over half a million pesos worth of shabu.
In Binalonan, Pangasinan, authorities served a search warrant at the residence of a known drug personality, identified as Alysa Bong.
The raid yielded 13 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 10 grams, valued at 68,000 pesos.
In Dagupan City, operatives arrested a 34-year-old man, alias “Elto,” a regional drug target in the Ilocos Region.
During a pre-dawn raid on April 3 in Barangay Bonuan Boquig, authorities confiscated 60 sachets of shabu weighing 100 grams and worth approximately 680,000 pesos.
Drug paraphernalia were also recovered.
Both suspects are now in the custody of the PDEA Pangasinan Office Jail Facility and are facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
