President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral agreements between the Philippines and Panama during the courtesy visit of Panamanian Ambassador-Designate Eduardo Antonio Young Virzi on March 12.
During the meeting, the ambassador presented his credentials, signaling a commitment to further enhance trade and maritime cooperation between the two nations.
“The President highlighted the Philippines and Panama’s shared role as vital trade and maritime hubs and expressed interest in exploring new ways to strengthen bilateral relations for the benefit of both nations,” the Presidential Communications Office stated.
President Marcos stressed the need for innovative strategies to enhance economic growth, security, and international access through bilateral cooperation and investment opportunities.
The Philippines and Panama formally established diplomatic relations on September 28, 1973, and celebrated their 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2023.
