They are often seen along the roadsides, carrying baskets of vegetables.
Constantly moving, never staying in one place.
These are the illegal vendors frequently monitored by the Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) of the city.
But as crowds increase during the Panagbenga Festival, so does the number of these vendors.
Many customers prefer buying from them because they are conveniently positioned near market entrances.
This is also a growing concern for legitimate vendors inside the Baguio City Public Market.
Just like 69-year-old Nanay Lina.
She says they are not against the vendors but notes that it affects their sales as legal business owners.
According to the POSD, many illegal vendors are from other provinces and only come to the city to sell.
However, authorities assure the public that stricter monitoring will be implemented.
They also aim to apprehend these vendors to protect legal businesses in the market.
Despite this, they assure that they will enforce maximum tolerance when handling the situation.
