The provincial government of Pangasinan recently granted the requests of the Indigenous Eowak community in Barangay Fianza, San Nicolas, by providing farming equipment and free medical consultations through the Christmas Lighting with a Purpose Project.

Barangay Fianza is a remote area in San Nicolas, with rough and rugged roads leading to the community.

However, this did not stop Governor Ramon V. Guico III, First Spouses League of Pangasinan Chairperson Maan Tuazon-Guico, and provincial officials from reaching the village to personally deliver the promised assistance.

Upon their arrival, the officials received a warm welcome from the residents, who expressed their gratitude for the programs and aid brought by the provincial government.

One of the main services provided was the “Konsulta Plus Guiconsulta” program, which offered free medical consultations, medicines, and laboratory services to the residents.

Free haircuts were also given to children and elderly members of the community.

For the Eowak Earth Savers Association, the government distributed essential farming tools such as a water pump, 24 rolls of irrigation hoses, four rechargeable knapsack sprayers, a grass cutter, and various farming supplies, including vegetable and calamansi seeds.

The barangay council also received PVC hoses, knapsack sprayers, and other agricultural tools to support local farming activities.

The project was made possible through the efforts of the First Spouses League of Pangasinan and the provincial government.

Expressing his appreciation, Pastor Felixfrey Lorenzon, president of the Eowak Earth Savers Association, shared that Governor Guico was the first provincial leader to personally visit their community.

“On behalf of the Eowak tribe in Barangay Fianza, we sincerely thank Governor Monmon Guico for the services he has provided. No other governor has ever visited us, only him. Thank you for your love and support for the Eowak people,” he said.

Before leaving, the government also distributed food packs and hygiene kits to each family.

With the cooperation of various government agencies, the Philippine National Police, and local officials, the program was successfully implemented, bringing not only aid but also hope to the indigenous community of Barangay Fianza.
