With the summer season approaching, a skincare expert has warned the public about the risks of prolonged sun exposure, which can lead to various skin conditions.
Traffic enforcer Patrolman Renato Hernandez shared that to protect themselves from the sun’s heat, they take turns on duty and wear protective gear.
Aesthetician Ligaya Erlinda Lagman-Chulyao noted that common summer-related skin issues include sunburn, melasma, acne breakouts, and hyperpigmentation due to excessive exposure to UV rays.
If left untreated, these conditions may lead to more severe complications like skin infections or even skin cancer.
To prevent skin damage, Lagman-Chulyao advised wearing sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing.
She also emphasized the importance of reapplying sunscreen every two hours when outdoors and drinking plenty of water to keep the skin hydrated.
The public is encouraged to take these precautions to enjoy a safe and healthy summer season.
