An old time Baguio resident who splits his time in Japan and the United States has donated golf clubs to junior golfers.
Larry Puckett said that he will be helping young golfers improve their games with the donation to the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines thru its chairman emeritus Tommy Manotoc.
In giving the golf clubs, Puckett said: “These kids are coming from pool of talented, skillful and athletically inclined prospective young golfers from public schools throughout the Philippines.”
Puckett of Green Water village here is a former caddy at Camp John Hay like practically all his brothers. He went to join the US Navy and lived in the United States for decades.
He also represented the All US Navy Golf Team in winning various awards competing against uniformed personnel in the US Inter-Service Golf Tournaments. The now retired navyman is a graduate of the San Diego Golf Academy who intends to fully support Manotoc’s jungolf program as he hopes to bring something back to the youth and game.
He was also appointed by Manotoc to represent the Cordillera region in the jungolf program to cover more areas.
The Pucketts play regularly in the Fil-Am Golf Invitational with his brothers Gary and Douglas in the seniors and with their sons and nephews in the regular Fil-Am.
The Pucketts had Manotoc play for their team Green Meadows in the regular Fil-Am but without him because he flew to Japan for some business.
His late brother Fred is a well respected golfer and golf instructor at Camp John Hay who won in the Seniors Fil Championship.
The Puckett Green Meadow Foundation also provides assistance to young indigent Cordillerans. Pigeon Lobien
