Honey has a pH level of 3.5.
This means it’s acidic, preventing microbes or microorganisms from surviving in it.
That’s why it doesn’t spoil.
Honey also offers health benefits.
Some use honey to soothe sore throats when they have a cough or cold, thanks to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
However, not all honey found on the market is pure; artificial honey is also on the rise.
Artificial honey is often made with corn syrup and water mixed with sweeteners and flavorings to resemble real honey.
Because it lacks the enzymes and antibacterial properties of pure honey, it spoils more quickly.
