The LTO San Carlos Pangasinan District Office formed a seminar about theoretical driving course (TDC) that was filled with learnings regarding on land transportation, road traffic rules, defensive driving and maintenance, handling emergencies and breakdowns, and pre- driving orientation on vehicle parts, functions and operations headed by Ms. Aileen Peteros of LTO SCPDO.
The mentioned course is a requirement before the application and issuance of a student permit and originally quite expensive. Free TDC was specifically instructed by Glorioso Daniel Z. Martinez, the Regional Director of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) – Region I, to conduct in every city of the Region to bring the government’s services to the people. With the guidance of the DEC Lecturers, Jeska Alaina Montoya and Abigail Patawaran, the attendees listened meticulously on the demonstration and classes that the LGU had prepared for them during the seminar.
To celebrate and give support for Women’s month, the SCPDO have launched an all-girls TDC program to break the stereotypes against women drivers. “We want to eliminate yung mga biases. Ang mga kababaihan, hindi tayo mahina. We are born equal. Babae o lalaki, we are born equal and we can do anything and everything, kaya natin ‘to” Peteros confidently stated.
At the end of the program, A total of 87 female drivers ranging from 16-54 years old have successfully completed the two-day seminar last March 9-10, 2024. | Princess Lhura Jesusa Payumo
